Molly + Ryan | Woodland + Theater Wedding

Working with Molly + Ryan was a dream. Molly is an insanely talented graphic designer/artist and Ryan works in the film industry. They definitely got what we were about. Their engagement session was killer but man, this wedding was a knockout. Together they planned a perfect blend of their personalities. They share a reverence for nature which led to a private vow reading along Rocky River and John Muir readings during the ceremony.  The setting for the ceremony and reception was a beautiful, full-of-character old theater in the heart of Cleveland complete with the most whimsical, free-spirited details to match Molly's taste. She designed their stationery suite and featured her uncle's band! We couldn't have had a better time documenting this lovely story for these two!

Ashley + Zach | Northern Michigan Wedding

You may recognize these two from the recent adventure we had with them in Colorado a week before their wedding! We shared a sunset hike in the Rockies and a week later we shared a Sand Dune hike in Upper Michigan. What is this life?

Well, I had the hardest time not selecting a thousand beautiful moments to share from Ashley + Zach's Northern Michigan wedding. Not only was the destination and the wedding absolutely stunning but these two are genuinely the sweetest and happiest people I think I've ever met. Zach's love for Ashley was SO apparent in his mood that day. Between their shared glances and constant smiles, everyone who witnessed these two that day was sincerely intoxicated by the joy they share in their adoration for each other. This is one we'll remember for a long time.

Mandy + Wade - Ohio Farmhouse Wedding

After spending the morning with her girls in the historic farmhouse, Mandy calmly got dressed while awaiting the rain shower that showed up uninvited for their first look. Rain on a wedding day is a common fear in Ohio but Mandy & Wade gracefully endured the light showers to make memories out in the fields at Brookside Farms before their barn ceremony + reception. As a heavy fog quieted the scene, we found quiet places for shelter under the evergreens along the creekside. Guests enjoyed the smell of dinner from the smoker as they arrived to the ceremony. And they partied into the night while these two thoroughly enjoyed everything the night had to offer.

Rooftop Elopement Styled Shoot

Rooftop elopements should totally be the next thing. We love a mountain top but when one of those isn't in the itinerary, a rooftop is basically the next best thing.
Our friends in the local arts district here in Canton asked us to put together a styled shoot to feature their new wedding stationery + clothing lines. This was our first styled shoot using all local vendors and we loved the way it turned out.

Rachel + Michael | Romantic Industrial Wedding

This incredibly joyful day with Rachel & Michael was mostly spent exploring downtown Cleveland, wiping happy tears and laughing hysterically. They also got married and it was really sweet. These two planned a really tasteful, simple, romantic, and really personal day that was brimming with love from their family and friends. The best part is, you can totally tell from these photos because they were so in love, in the moment and true to themselves.
Their romantic, industrial wedding vibe at The Lake Erie Building is definitely one of our favorite wedding vibes! Vendors listed below!

Sara + Orion | Camp Wedding

We LOVE this wedding. If we were to bottle up a concoction of the perfect wedding it would be pretty damn close to this one. Childhood camp, barefoot, intimate, adventurous, emotional, meaningful. That's the recipe. Sara + Orion took that and added a whole other element of awesome.
Meet Sara + Orion, they met in New Zealand while Sara was on a Lord of the Rings expedition (nerd talk for exploring middle earth). These two God-loving humans belong to the same church and were both embarking on ministry journeys. They fell for each other immediately.

Fast forward to this beautiful November day at Stony Glen Camp in Ohio, which is Sara's childhood camp. The groomsmen and the groom get in their traditional Maori floral dress shirts and eucalyptus leis while Sara and her girls don their traditional American wedding attire. Sara, also a seamstress, adorned her dress with the lace sleeves that made it so perfect for her. Their ceremony included a foot washing ceremony and really emotional vows while the reception honored Orion's heritage with a traditional Haka dance.

The entire day was filled with so many meaningful moments. There were so many emotions pouring from everyone! We were so happy to be there to document it all for them! Orion spent the entire day barefoot and they never let go of each other, that's what it's all about folks!

Here's Sara + Orion's Ohio Camp/Maori Style Wedding! It's an epic wedding mashup!

Lisa + Jakob | Romantic Industrial Warehouse Wedding

These two have style. This wedding was off the freaking charts amazing. Lisa + Hawk (short for his last name) are creatives, they run a needle felt business together while Jakob is also a film documentarian working on an awesome project right now. I love having creatives as clients because they really understand things like light and authentic moments, which this day was stocked with!
There venue was transformed from a industrial warehouse to a romantic landscape of reds and purples making it the perfect urban fairytale for these two true love birds. Hand written vows, cultural dances and so many hand made items left us wanting to document more unique weddings like this one!

Meet...

Emily + Andy | Hale Farm Wedding

Emily + Andy are adventurous, they met exploring a National Park, so when it poured down rain and the thunder roared on their outdoor ceremony these two made the best of it! Guests huddled under umbrellas as they waited for Emily to walk down the isle. Just as their vows began the rain cleared and this beautiful fog rolled over the hills of Hale Farm. A barn party, an evening walk and a bon fire completed the night! We loved this wedding for it's location, simplicity and fun vibe! Emily + Andy were so relaxed and tuned in to one another! Take a look!

Wildflower Vow Renewal

Lisa & Chad wanted a way to reconfirm their love after 10 years of marriage. They wanted something intimate and romantic and special. And with that spark this wildflower field elopement vow renewal was born!
We met them at sunset in a big field of fall wildflowers and the rest was seriously magical. They quietly spoke their vows through giggles and tears and then tucked the notes away in a keepsake box with some mementos from their decade together. Just before the golden sun sunk down behind the hills we met up with their two adorable boys for a family cuddle.

Lauren + Jonah | Gervasi Vineyard Wedding

This intimate wedding was so fun to photograph back in June. The day had very little to do with timelines and formalities, it was mostly just Lauren + Jonah being together as husband & wife with their awesome friends and families in this beautiful place. Those are truly our favorite wedding days to document.

Natalya + Charlie | Peacock Ridge Farm Wedding

Adventurers, world-travelers, always hand in hand, lovers of photography. That's Natalya + Charlie, so naturally you know we hit it off. Charlie proposed in Iceland (bummer we missed that!) and they planned a close-to-home wedding at Peacock Ridge Farm in Ohio. A perfect backdrop for their adventurous spirits. This was our favorite wedding this year mainly because at sunset Natalya jumped up and down in excitement for their portraits in this giant golden field. It was breathtaking and they took in every single bit of it.

Taylor + Tony, Ohio Barn Wedding

We truly adored Taylor & Tony. Just something about their love and sense of humor really struck us. We met up with them a few times over the last year or so (once for their engagement you can see here) and every time they both had us howling. We adored these two so much we printed one of their wedding photos just to put up in our office! What sweethearts they are to everyone and what a lovely wedding day they had!

Venue: Hoover Hall, Walsh University
Florals: Twigs & Twine

Jessica + Dani | The Club at Hillbrook Wedding

Jessica, from Cleveland, and her doting beau Dani, from New York, convened with their awesome families for a perfectly intimate ceremony and reception at The Club at Hillbrook in Chagrin Falls, Ohio.  The forecast called for rain and they moved the ceremony into the covered porch but the heat and humid weather brought this unbelievably beautiful haze into the pine forest behind the club. It felt like the enchanted forest. This wedding was full of so much to love, champagne & cigars under the setting sun, cheese foraged from their favorite NYC chefs, a foliage abundant chuppah that made my heart skip and an epic dance party.  Meet Jessica + Dani.

Allison + Rory | Red Space Wedding

We absolutely love when a couple comes to us with a shell of an idea for an intimate, personalized wedding like Allison + Rory's. "Flowing, authentic, un-contrived" were the words this couple used to describe their eclectic wedding vision. It all came to fruition at Cleveland's Red Space! We loved this wedding style so much and got to work so many of our favorite vendors! Such character in the details! Have a look!

Best of 2015

A year of adventure we planned, a year of adventure we had. This blog hasn't been graced with many personal thoughts lately just as a way to keep a curated journal of our beautiful clients but at the end of the season, with a new year on the horizon, we can't help but start to collect our thoughts on how grateful we are for such a great year. For such a great life.

Our 2015 was truly one for the books, personally and professionally. We photographed the most weddings we've ever shot in a season and traveled more than ever. Professionally, this year took us to California, Colorado twice, New York, Chicago and all around Ohio, this year brought us publication features and a ton of new industry and life friends along with new skills, passions and ideas. Personally, this year brought us a creative burn-out like we never thought possible and a desire to travel deeper and work more passionately towards a debt-free, minimalist life. We bought a motorhome and started preparing for a different kind of life than we've had for the last ten years together. We got three new family members and one new kitty!

The best part of 2015 though is the stories we got to be a part of. No matter how long we do this work, we're never desensitized to the magnitude of that little detail. That we get to witness and document a couple, a family, best friends in their most joyful moments on a day that will be one of their most memorable in all their history... that's huge and still such an honor to us.

2015 put in front of our camera a ton of awesomely individual, genuine and special people and stories. These moments made up a year will we not forget and we just want to give thanks to these people for quite literally keeping our lights on.
Without further rambling...here are our best moments of 2015...thanks be to everyone pictured and several who are not!
Cheers to 2016!
