Who will be teaching?
True North 2018 will be taught by us, Mallory + Justin. In the future we may enlist other teachers to share their experiences as well.

What am I going to take away from this workshop?
True North is a casual, group-centric workshop. The take away is up to you. The more you interact, open up and take advantage of the provided space to look inward...the more you'll take away. We hope you leave with a better understanding of storytelling + documenting natural emotion in your couples. We also hope that you leave with a new found outlook on rooting your business in values that are important to you (as opposed to following the industry & it's trends). And, we hope to help you find balance at the intersection of your business, life and social media, which can be a real burden these days.

Where is the workshop being held?
True North 2018 is being held in a rustic-modern-industrial Airbnb located in the beautiful Ohio countryside. Sugarcreek, OH, known to locals as Amish Country,  is an oasis of farmland and nature and we're stoked to have found this modern gem among it.

What time is the workshop?
August 22, 2018 from 1:00pm - 6pm. Dinner will begin at 6:30pm
Overnight guests have the night of the 22nd until 10am on the 23rd. More details will be provided as the date nears.

What is included?
Coffee, water and basic snacks, access to the common spaces of the Airbnb and a group dinner will be provided for all attendees. For overnight attendees, linens, access to the hot tub + morning coffee and and breakfast will be provided. The kitchen will also be available for you to prepare your own snacks or meals. BYOB.

How many people are attending?
We prefer to keep all of our workshops small to encourage a deeper group connection. True North is limited to 15 people.

Will I get to shoot?
Often photographers find workshops desirable because of an on-trend styled shoot opportunity, we've found that in a workshop scenario a shoot-out (many photographers shooting at once) tends to distract from the overall message. We will be do a live demo with a real couple during which we ask that you don't shoot so that you can absorb and focus what is being demonstrated but after, you'll have an open space to practice what you've learned with the couple or other workshop attendees. You are always welcome to shoot during downtime in the space. Planning a styled shoot with another attendee during downtime is encouraged!

What if I can only come for the day?
That's perfectly fine. We hope you can stay for dinner too! Just make sure to select the one day workshop when booking.

What if I want to spend the night but I don't know anyone and I'm nervous to share a bedroom?
Stepping out of your comfort zone is half the battle of taking something meaningful away from these types of experiences. We recommend either inviting a photographer friend to share a bed or a room with or just going for it! You'll be surprised by the authenticity of the connections you'll make!

What if my spouse or my second shooter/associate want to come?
The workshop is open to all photographers. A 10% discount is available for couples and associates. If you want to share a room or a bed, shoot us an email first for a special invoice.

What if I need to cancel?
Due to the nature of the event, your reservation indicates our intent to reserve the space and the date. Refunds will not be provided unless the reason is an emergency. You can find someone to take your spot or sell your spot on your own. Please, be prepared and committed when booking.
